1940s HBT Hard Labor Battalion Prisoner Fatigue Jacket Size 38R

This is a very rare example of a jacket worn by a soldier who was convicted of a crime in the military and forced to serve in a hard labor battalion. The jacket comes from the estate of Jim Robertson, a long time collector of military clothing and artifacts. It is in very good condition with signs of gentle wear and a few stains. The HBT fabric is in good shape, and all the 13 star buttons are intact and functional. The chest pockets are gusseted, and the jacket has a gas flap. The prisoner’s details are stenciled on the back in yellow. There are two additional stencils on the jacket: another name, “Parker,” on the front of the inside of the jacket, and a light outline of the state of Texas that can be seen just beneath the yellow stenciling. The jacket is tagged a size 38R. I am 5‘8” tall, 165 lbs, with a 39” chest, and the jacket fits me well with room for layering underneath.
